Cardiff University's Commitment to being an Anti-Racist University

During the academic year of 2023-2024, No Boundaries supported Cardiff University with their work on anti-racism and their commitment to being an anti-racist university.
To support this ambition, we provided support and anti-racism training to the senior leaders at the university. The initial introductory session was delivered through a half day anti-racism session at the Leonardo Hotel in Cardiff City Centre. Well over a hundred staff attended this training. In this session, we looked into the areas of what racism was, terminology, the history of racism and biases.
Following this session, we delivered sessions to smaller groups of senior leaders, with the aim of increasing the awareness of leadership, what anti-tacist leadership looks like, to equip senior leaders to inspire anti-racism change individually but also as a team, collectively, within the university. To add to that, we then spoke about what a whole institutional approach towards anti-racism should be.

The first of these sessions were held with the University Executive Board and included the President and Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, Professor Wendy Larner.
The university has a high number of international students attending, so we also explored the challenges they may face in terms of integration and cohesion within and outside of the university. This is a university that welcomes everyone, regardless of their background.
The training was well received and the opportunity to have open and honest discussions reflecting on what is going well and what needs to be improved on to ensure the university is working towards their goal of anti-racism practice.
We would like to thank Cardiff University for providing No Boundaries with the opportunity to support their work on anti-racism.
